About Elyana

Elyana resides in the city of Dearborn Heights with her husband, Hussein, and their newborn son, Michael. For her, the future of Dearborn Heights isn’t an abstract idea. It’s personal. It’s the place where she is raising her family, building her life, and calls home. Elyana hopes Michael will grow up with the same sense of belonging, opportunity, and pride in Dearborn Heights that has shaped her own life. That’s why the future of Dearborn Heights matters so deeply to Elyana.

Elyana’s journey in community service began at a young age. She became heavily involved in Key Club and went on to serve as Michigan Key Club Governor in 2019, taking on a statewide leadership role centered around service, volunteerism, and empowering young people to make a difference in their communities. That passion for service continued throughout her school years. 

Over the years, Elyana has helped organize charity galas, fashion shows, fundraisers, and community events that have turned that passion into real impact. Through these efforts, she helped raise enough money to provide more than 30,000 meals to families in need. She loved bringing people together, organizing events, and finding ways to turn an idea into something that could make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Elyana formerly served as a board member of the Rehmat Foundation, where she partnered with medical professionals and community members to create mental health journals designed to give young people tools and resources to support their mental and emotional well-being. Those journals were donated to hospitals and classrooms, including Annapolis High School right here in Dearborn Heights. 

Elyana’s commitment to education and service continued when she joined the Dearborn Education Foundation Board, becoming its youngest board member at 20 years old. Through her work with the Foundation, she has helped organize events and raise funds that support students, teachers, classrooms, and educational opportunities across the community.

Elyana currently serves as a member of the Dearborn Heights Women & Girls Commission, which works to empower women and girls and advance issues that impact their lives. She is also a proud Kiwanis member, continuing her lifelong commitment to service and community involvement.

Today, Elyana is a small business owner, licensed realtor, insurance professional, and proud union member of OPEIU Local 277. Each of these experiences has given her the opportunity to work directly with families, homeowners, small businesses, and community leaders. They have also reinforced something she learned long ago: leadership starts with listening, and service starts with showing up.

  • Clearly define the authority and responsibilities of the Mayor, City Council, department heads, boards and commissions so there is accountability at every level.

  • Modernize outdated procedures while protecting transparency, accountability, and responsible use of taxpayer dollars.
